This song is written as a letter to the communities that I used to be a part of. I have been on a journey of self-discovery for many years, and as I’ve figured out who I am, unfortunately I have had to face environments that are close-minded and non-inclusive. I wrote this song during one of the lowest points of my life. I completed the demo in my basement on GarageBand and then brought it to the tech center to re-record it in the studio. I played all of the parts on piano and later added some bass and strings as additional production. I am so thankful that the tech center provided me with the opportunity to master my song and tell my story. I am sharing it in order to reach out to anyone who has ever felt hopeless like me and let them know that they are not alone. I want to encourage people to be themselves in the midst of difficult situations, and I want my music and its message to empower people to embrace who they really are and not be afraid to express themselves.
