Description

Although indigenous peoples are synonymous with cultural wealth, respect and preservation of nature, they are among the most disadvantaged populations on the planet.
The UN chose August 9 to commemorate the International Day of Indigenous Peoples.
Although the official Argentine story denied and made indigenous peoples invisible, accompanied by the colonization process and the nineteenth-century military campaigns that caused much of the extermination of several peoples, they not gone yet. After centuries-old battles, they continue fighting for the valorization of their identity, their political autonomy, the recognition of their rights and the rights over their territories.
The State keeps the registry of 34 villages registered in the National Registry of Indigenous Communities (Re.Na.CI): Atacama, Chané, Charrúa, Chorote, Chulupí, Comechingón, Diaguita, Guaraní, Guaycurú, Huarpe, Iogys, Kolla, Kolla Atacameño Lule, Lule Vilela, Mapuche, Mapuche Tehuelche, Mocoví, Mbya Guaraní, Ocloya Pila, Omagua, Quechua, Ranquel, Sanavirón, Selk'Nam (Ona), Tapiete, Tastil, Tehuelche, Tilián, Toba (Qom), Tonokoté, Vilela , Wichí.
