Description

421 N Ave used to be known as Lincoln Heights Jail. It’s a story not many know but beyond it being a graffiti’d building, it is a place of rich history where Al Capone once was detained, where the Zoot Suiters and peple protesting during the Watts riots were taken after arrest, and where many peoples identities were questioned. If your sexual orientation was questioned by an officer, then you were brought here. It’s a canvas for graffiti art now but not many know what happened here before. I took this picture to capture this piece of history in my neighborhood.
